Methods for Linking a Chromebook to a Display

By giving you access to a larger screen for work or play, connecting your Chromebook to a monitor can increase productivity. This is how you do it:

Method 1: Check Ports for DisplayPort or HDMI:

Look over your Chromebook and monitor to see which ports are open. VGA, USB-C, HDMI, and DisplayPort are examples of common ports.
Choose the Cable:

Select a cable based on which ports work with both your Chromebook and the display. A normal HDMI or USB-C to HDMI cable works best for the majority of current installations. Make sure your Chromebook has a compatible port or use the proper converter if your monitor only supports DisplayPort.
Link the Cable:

Attach one end of the cable to the suitable Chromebook port.
Attach the opposite end of the cable to the matching port on your display.
Change the Monitor’s Input:

To change to the appropriate input source (such as HDMI or DisplayPort) that corresponds with the port connected to your Chromebook, use the physical buttons or remote control on the monitor.
If necessary, modify the Chromebook’s settings:

Your Chromebook might occasionally recognize and adapt to the resolution of the external monitor on its own. You can manually change the display settings if not.
Clicking the clock area in the lower-right corner of the screen will bring up the system menu.
To access the Settings, click the gear symbol.
After swiping down, choose “Device” and then “Displays.”
Here, you can change the resolution, orientation, and mirroring settings to suit your tastes.
Layout the display (if you’re using more than one monitor):

You can set up the arrangement of your multiple monitors to either extend your desktop or mirror your main display.
Multiple display configuration and arrangement possibilities are found under the “Displays” settings.
Method 2: Using Miracast or Chromecast for Wireless Display
Make Sure It’s Compatible:

Verify whether wireless display technologies like Chromecast or Miracast are supported by your Chromebook and monitor. Chromebooks and most current monitors work together.
Configure a Wireless Display:

Make sure your monitor is linked to the same wireless network as your Chromebook.
Follow the setup instructions provided by the manufacturer for your Chromecast device or to activate Miracast on your display.
Link Chromebook:

Open your Chromebook’s system menu.
In the bottom-right corner of the screen, click the status area where your account image is shown.
Depending on the model of your Chromebook, choose either “Cast” or “Connected devices”.
Your Chromebook will look for wireless displays that are available. Make your choice of monitor from the list.
Modify the settings as necessary:

You might need to change your Chromebook’s display settings after connecting, including the resolution or mirroring settings, as explained in Method 1.
Make Use of Your Monitor

You should now be able to mirror or expand the display of your Chromebook to a monitor via a wireless connection.
Advice:
Upgrade your Chromebook: To maximize compatibility and performance, make sure Chrome OS is up to date on your Chromebook.

Monitor Compatibility: If your older monitor doesn’t have an HDMI or DisplayPort port, you may need to use an adaptor or converter to connect it to your Chromebook.

Modify Resolution: Try a range of resolutions to determine which one best suits your monitor’s display quality.

Power Settings: Using an external display may result in a higher power usage. To maximize battery life, try modifying the Chromebook’s power settings.

These instructions make it simple to use wireless display technology or a physical cable to connect your Chromebook to a monitor so you may use a bigger screen for work or enjoyment.
